UNIVERSITY-MODEL HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM
CCA will begin our High School Program in the Fall 2009, starting with 9th grade.  Will add a grade each subsequent year until we reach our goal of a Pre-K through 12 school.

WHAT IS A UNIVERSITY MODEL SCHOOL?

A university-model school is co-op for homeschool families, with excellent classes for high school students.

Imagine high school students going to classes the way most college students do. Students receive professional instruction at school on Tuesdays and Thursdays (TTh), then study for their classes AT HOME on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (MWF) under a parent’s guidance.  As the program grows, consider shifting their teacher-led class days to MWF and leading them to study under a parent’s oversight on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What a great head start for college we could give them as juniors and seniors in high school, they could actually practice an authentic university-style schedule, including:
> MWF classes, OR
> TTh classes,
> extra-curricular activities and/or part time jobs,
> the responsibility for accomplishing their out-of-class assignments during their discretionary hours.

Do you think it would impact the behavior and character development of these students if parents were so highly involved?

Would family relationships, both present and future, be strengthened with such an approach?

What if all of this could be done for about half the tuition cost of a typical private school?

Could it ever work?
Good news . . . IT IS WORKING RIGHT NOW ACROSS THE NATION!

Thank you for your interest in Cleburne Christian Academy!
If you are interested in pursuing an educational partnership with Cleburne Christian Academy, please consider the following outline for the admissions process:

1) Attend a Cleburne Christian Academy Parent Information Presentation (PIP)
.
Parent Information Presentations give families the opportunity to discover more about University-Model Schooling at CCA.  Families hear the details regarding parent/teacher partnership, parent roles, CCA’s scope and sequence, faculty credentials, academic policies and more.  Student applications for admission are also available to families who decide they are ready to move forward with the admissions process. To find out when the next presentation is scheduled, call the school office: 817-641-2857 or email cccs1410@sbcglobal.net.

2) Submit an application for admission
.

Families may submit their student’s application for admission to the school office once they have attended a Parent Information Presentation.  A one-time-per-family $30 application fee should accompany the application.  A complete application will also include the student’s complete immunization records and recent samples of student work (math & English) or copies of recent standardized test scores.

3) Participate in a family interview
.

Families who have submitted their student’s application will be contacted by the school to set up a family interview, at time when parents and their prospective student will meet with Mrs. Julie Lee, CCA’s Curriculum Administrator. This meeting will allow Mrs. Lee the opportunity to become better acquainted with your particular student and family and provide all parties with a more certain understanding of how Cleburne Christian Academy might best serve your family. Student placement in courses will also be discussed during this interview, and if additional placement testing seems needed, it will be arranged at this time.

4) Academic Assessment and Course Placement.

Arrangements will be made at the family interview for additional placement testing if this is necessary to insure confidence for course placement and student success. If testing is arranged, a one-time, non-refundable fee of $30 will be due the day of the testing.

5) Receive a letter of decision.

The admissions process will be completed once your family receives a letter of decision indicating whether or not your student has been accepted as a student at Cleburne Christian Academy. Following a letter of acceptance, parents will be given student enrollment forms to formally enroll their student in courses. A $50 once-per-year registration fee, will be due at the time of course registration.
